Introduction to cameras - Practical Activity

Our task was within the group to take different shots of our understanding of the camera and lighting.

Here is a wide shot of an area. This lets the viewer / audiences see the surroundings and areas so they know the location or have an idea of the location. This can help let the viewer / audience know the genre or sub-genre of the film.

We are aware that the framing in this photograph is not well because we did not look at the spirit level.

Rule of Thirds

When filming it is important to have the character positioned in the right place in the frame or the positing of the character will look weird when seen by the audience / viewer.
When filming the actors head should be in the top 3rd horizontally instead of the middle 3rd or button 3rd.

Another thing that should be considered during filming, which part of the rule is of third is that what side an actor should be filmed on.
For example is a character was walking into a room or talking to someone on their right hand side, the scene should be filmed with the actor on the left 3rd of the frame so what is happening in the scene can be understood better by the viewers / audience and also if they are filmed from the right what is going on behind them will be rubbish and not needed as you can see from the example below.

Issues with Standing in Front of a Window

The different issues that occur while standing in front if a window that has open curtains are:
-The camera and technical equipment may be seen in the reflection of the window.
-The lighting of the sun my be too bright and create unwanted shadows
- Actors that may be blocking the sunlight while filming
