Audiences

No film is for everyone, each film has a target audience. Target audiences range from toddlers to elderly people, actors that are casted, genres, sub-genres, mise en scene, editing, sound and camera work are all contributing factors taken into consideration in order to make a film. The reason for this is that directors and film writers target a certain market of people who would be interested in the film being made and therefore incorporate factors that the targeted audience would love to watch, thus ensuring profit is made.

 Specifying a target audience for thriller films genrally depends on people's interests, ideally thriller films interest someone who likes to be intrigued by the element of surprise and also likes mystery with a hint of a twist. Thrillers make viewers try and work things out for themselves but sometimes they never quite get there. Sub-genre can also determine target audience, for example crime thrillers such as Momento and Se7en target more mature viewers whereas a action thrillers such as Die Hard and Enemy of the State is targeted at young adults.
