Evaluation - Question 7

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Screen grabs comparisons
The comparison between post production
Prelim
The script

The Animatic
Noir Demon

We research film openings for inspiration

We were able to make a animatic and storyboard

We brainstormed our ideas

Because of the brainstorming and planning we were able to go and by the right props we needed and give each person a role to do that we all decided on

We was able to make a production schedule so we kne when we were filming and when we need to take out equipment

Comparison in lighting

Here you can see the first 3 pictures with poor lighting from the prelim and you can see the improved lighting in the 3 pictures below of improved light in the opening of Noir Demon.
Comparison in editing
Both the Prelm and Film Opening was done using Final Cut Pro but the editing for the Film Opening was done longer then the Prelim duration of editing (Post Production)

In the the Prelim I was only able to use Soundtrack Pro but in the film opening of Noir Demon I was able to use Soundtrack Pro and my own Foley Sounds that I created.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preliminary Film
-Pre Production – Planning, Animatic & Instructions, Location in College
-Production – Camera Skills, Mise en Scene, Lighting
-Post Production – Editing & Soundtrack Pro

We had very little time to plan and were given instructions to have a match cut and shot reverse shot
Match Cut was good but could have been better.
We broke the 180 degree rule
Soundtrack was good from soundtrack Pro but we wasn’t able to create are own Foley sounds
We had no titles in are Prelim Film
We should have put the lighting brighter because it was a bit dark
The transitions were to fast because the clips filmed were not long

Film Opening
-Pre Production – Planning, Storyboard & Animatic, Brainstorm
-Production – Camera Skills, Mise en Scene, Lighting, Props, Filmed at different locations
-Post Production – Editing, Soundtrack Pro & Foley Sounds

Didn’t use a match cut but we did have a cross cut
We fully understand the 180 degree rule
We had a longer Pre Production stage so we had a clear idea of what we were going to do when it came to the Production stage.
We had a longer time to plan meaning we were able to go and buy the props we needed and plan what everyone was doing
We were able to crate are own soundtrack using soundtrack Pro and Foley sounds we created and recorded
We added titles in our opening and effects during the opening
The lighting was better (we took out lights when we went to field on the field just in case so the same mistake was not made link in the Prelim)
My camera skills were better then it was during the make of the preliminary film.
My editing skills were better this is because I had a chance to explore around on Final Cut Pro and was should how to use new things ion Final Cut Pro
We decided not to have taking in the opening becuase it didnt work to well in the prelim
