Genre and subgenre and audiences.

Genre is a way of categorizing a particular media text according to its content and style.
Genre does not rely simply on what's in a media text but also on the way it is put together (constructed). This can be important, for example, when distinguishing between a horror movie and a thriller, which can deal with similar subject matter, and look the same — lots of action set at night — but belong to separate genres (a horror film takes the audience into a supernatural place, where a thriller sticks to reality).
A media text is said to belong to a genre, as it adopts the codes and conventions of other texts in that genre, and lives up to the same expectations. Texts from different mediums may belong to the same genre (e.g. a tv programme like Dr Who and a comicbook like The Incredible Hulkcan both be categorised as Science Fiction.)
sub-genre is one of several category  within a particular genre.
an example of this would be a 'comedy thriller'.  heres an example above , scary movie.
mind-bogglingly dumb characters hustle their way through spoofs of the industry's most popular recent films. It's no mistake that the roasted movies -- in this case: Signs, The Ring, and 8 Mile -- all pull in huge money and attract a young audience.

in my own film i may use some of mind-bogglingly dumb characters to spice it up a bit , however are film wont be as 'comedic' as scary movie. but we will be employing some of the characteristics from  scary movie to spice it up.
This could influence my own film opening as I am familiarized with the specific different aspects included in the creation of action/thrillers.

 HARRY POTTER.
A BEST SELLING BOOK AND FILM. FANTASY, THRILLER , ROMANCE,ADVENTURE, EVEN COMEDIC AT TIMES.
HARRY POTTERS TARGET AUDIENCE MAY SEEM TO BE FOR KIDS. HOWEVER , HARRY POTTER SEEMS TO BE A BIT TO SCARY KIDS TO WATCH ALONE... SO THEREFORE HARRY POTTER MUST BE TARGETED AT THE FAMILY.

UNKNOWN.

An American in Berlin awakens from a coma to discover someone has taken on his identity and that no one, not even his wife, believes him. With the help of a young woman, he sets out to prove who he is. Taken was an unexpected blockbuster-sized hit. That’s why Unknown exists.  TARGET AUDIENCE WOULD BE 20-50S , PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO WORK OUT THINGS AND REALLY GET INVOLVED IN THE MOVIE.

LIMITLESS.

An intellectual slacker and former addict is working for a small publishing house when he finds himself in possession of a top-secret drug that boosts intellect, stamina, intuition, and charisma. In a few hours he can write a book, learn a foreign language or master the stock market. But soon shadowy killers are on his trail, and the side effects are kicking in. It’s based on this novel which is supposedly well paced, but has a few bothersome logic holes.  target audience of Limitless, are people who love science fiction and thriller films. I wouldn't say a particular age range, but most likely, fans of action-thriller movies are the ones who would come to see this film. It's element of surprise and thrill is perfect and it never fails to excite the viewers in every scene.
